Civil Unrest

In the last comment made on this site, a commenter identified as HaHaHaHa wrote this:
There is nothing civil about this website.

Our response:

Dear HaHaHaHa,

You are absolutely correct. There is NOTHING civil about this website. It is precisely because of the un-civil activities of a couple of people that we were forced to create this site. We don’t like it. We didn’t want to do it. We dread posting to it. It is not civil!

We dream of a Village where a site like this has no place and no purpose, where neighbors are civil to one another; when someone has a complaint they address it directly in a mature, civil manner. We dream of a Village where people work together for the common good of all. We are tired of worrying who is on whose side; we are tired of watching our street looking for whoever might come cruising by with their clipboards and cameras acting like God’s own hallway monitors.

We are sick of the whole mess and we’re going to end it now. We stated much earlier that it was never our intention to maintain this site forever. Hey, we’ve got lives, too. This blog is a canker sore on the Village and we’re going to cover it up once and for all.

Thank you to the many helpful commenters and readers. And to those who preferred to be insulting and rude, well, we would have hoped that your mothers had taught you better.

This will be our last post. Leave a comment if you will. Any comments which we find offensive will be smote (smited?). In a few weeks, we’ll probably delete the blog altogether.

Be good.

Addendum:
This blog has lain quiet with nary a post or comment since September. A year ago, we were about to take it offline when we got slapped with a lawsuit. Never ones to flee from a fight we left the blog running a bit longer (although out hearts were clearly not in it).

It's now been nearly a year since the suit and we think it is finally time to pull up stakes and pack the tent. We removed all previous posts and comments and put up the announcement that this blog was headed for cyber-heaven. We wanted to say farewell to our faithful readers and then slide slowly into the sunset.

But dang it all, within a few hours of our posting our plans to terminate this blog Shelly Cargill (or someone using her name) began posting a sonnet to the Swartzs detailing what wonderful people they are. We deleted her comment not because of her support of the Swartzs but because she named and attacked other people not associated with this blog. She re-posted and we re-deleted. Rinse and repeat.

As we stated in the comments, if you want to gush about the Swartzs, fine. We'll keep it posted. As we've stressed several times in the past, if you've got something to get off your chest and you don't like how we run this blog then START YOUR OWN BLOG. It's easy.

At the very least this blog and the others opened peoples eyes and minds to what is going on in Old Hickory. Will we be better off with this knowledge? Of course we will. We NOW know the definition of coward,no morals, backstabber, two faced and that entity although still living on Riverside is treading difficult waters because the truth has been spoken. Thank you for this blog. I would only hope someone else will resume a blog to keep the pressure on until we are finally either at peace or the swartz's and all their comrades are finally gone from our beautiful village.

Dear Shelly Cargill,
We have removed your comment (and its reposting)not because of your admirable support of the Swartzs but because of what you said about other people. As we have stated before, if you or anyone else wishes to to attack other individuals than please feel free to start your own blog. You are welcome to make comments here supporting the Swartzs. That is only fair. Those comments will not be deleted. But please refrain from attacking other people. If you continue to post inappropriately we will just turn off or moderate the comments.

I'm not "attacking" anyone. You claim that you're not "attacking" the Swartz's, that you are only stating the truth about them. I'm offering an alternative - I'm giving you the names of specific people who have lied about the Swartz's, and I SIGNED MY NAME.

That not only makes me more open and above board than you, it makes my words more checkable than yours.

But you don't like the truth. You're offended by the fact that not only did I name names, I gave my own so that anyone can try and prove me wrong. Obviously I'm a lot more sure of what I said than you are of what you and your friends say.

I'll never stop telling the truth. Maybe some day you'll start.

Hey, Blogger,

You say you just want to post the truth about the Swartz's - so why do you keep deleting it?

The blogger is obviously only interested in posting deliberate lies about the Swartz's. I have submitted (time and time again) truthful information about the names of those who have been gossiping and lying about the Swartz's, but this information keeps being deleted.

One wonders - why does the blogger hate the truth? What could possibly prompt anyone to knowingly publish untrue gossip about someone?

Signed (unlike the blogger),

Shelly Cargill

I am Shelly Cargill.

I am the one posting under the name "Shelly Cargill".

If you want a copy of what I posted and which was removed, I will be happy to give you one.

I'm not afraid to tell the truth about Don and Terry - or about anyone else. I do not need to be anonymous.

I'm not worried about being sued because I can prove everything and provide witnesses if I am ever hauled into court.

The difference between me and the blogger is this: I'm not lying, I'm not anonymous, and I'm not scared.

What in the world is she gona do if you take this blog down? Are you gona take away all of her excite?

I do not know the originators of this site nor the people in question involved in the lawsuit. But, I do know Don and he is a great man. In the years that I have known him he did everything to help others out, including myself. I can not understand how a website could be made to defame a man that I know to be a good man.

The truth of the matter is, he is happy in Old Hickory with his wife, and as long as his business adventures are going well, and he continues to have people to help, then he will stay. If you others have that much of a problem, maybe you should find another neighborhood yourself.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Why dont you spend this time making a website to critcize and harrass the illegal aliens that are killing legal citizans while driving drunk or the child molestors, or someone who actually deserves this.

Keep up your good work Don!

josh binkley is one of two "people"
that like to be bullied

That previous comment is just a bit too cryptic for comprehension.

Are you saying that "Josh Binkley" is actually a Swartz (one of two "people")?

Who likes to be bullied? What two people like to be bullied?

Can you explain a bit more. I'm badly cornfuzed.

I happened upon this lawsuit while searching around for caselaw. I understand your frustration and your need to fight with what you have to fight with. You appear to be the underdog, out gunned. But as I follow this, why not take a stand in what you believe. Sure, anonymous free speech is great! It is protected too! This country was essentially founded upon it because who could plan a Revolution standing on a crest of a hill waving a flag proclaiming it? I suggest if what you say is true, then fight it. You do not even need a lawyer, let the truth defend you. But in my untrained eyes, you have written lies and are hiding under a rock in fear of exposure which apparently was your motive...TO EXPOSE the people. Trust me pal, I don't know you ar any of them, just a small town tennessean fixing to launch my own "pro se" defamation lawsuit that will involve a couple John-Jane Does. Delete this is you want to because it matters not because I am serfing on to other sites but wanted to throw a comment out there. Lastly, your failure to maintain your blog almost is a self admission of guilt. In that and other regards, I think your identity will be found out and as a coward you will be treated and scorned. You should have approached the subpoena head on with the heart of a lion and not the trembling of a lamb. Good luck.

Dear Small Town Tennessean,

The blogger cannot respond to you right now. That lying stinker is desperately trying to find a place to hide while searching around for some dry pants.

The posters who chimed in with their owns lies should be heading for the hills about now.

So - there's nobody left to man the ship, so to speak.

Good luck in your lawsuit. May you win against the anonymous slanderers in your life.

Found this blog via: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2009/10/anonymous-real-estate-critic-on-the-verge-of-being-unmasked.ars

I still have not idea what this blog is really about but would like to say that you, Shelly, do not come across to well on here. I don't know if what you say is true or false or if your name is real but you sure seem pretty hell-bent on attacking this blogger when the blog isn't even about you.

Good luck to all involved in this mess.

I want to start my own blog. You said it's easy. How do I do it? What blog software did you use?
